Amtrak’s Visit Vermont fare, a 20 percent discount for travel to any Vermont station, is available through October 31, 2010.  Call 1-800-USA-RAIL and mention code V683 when you make your reservation.

Amtrak Vermonter Special Packages to Downtowns
Rail travelers, including Vermonters, can plan everything from a Logo - Amtrak Vermonterdaytrip to a series of multiday stays at a few or all of the communities and nearby resorts served by the Amtrak Vermonter. 

Travel between any two Vermont stops on the Vermonter’s daily route for a special rate of $12, through December 31, 2010.  Better yet, in celebration of Vermont’s historic downtowns, the nine communities along the route are offering attractive packages, including lodging and shuttle or taxi from the station.

How to do it: Vermont a la carte

  • Pick the dates and sequence of the Vermont downtowns or participating resorts that you would like to visit, then select an overnight or daytrip package for each one. 
  • Travel to Vermont: Once your itinerary is laid out make your reservation with Amtrak (1-800-USA-RAIL - request Visit Vermont discount code V683)
  • Within Vermont: reserve travel to the towns you plan to visit at just $12 for each trip (request discount code V648).

Vermont's Designated Downtowns   

Vermont has 22 "Designated Downtowns." Nine of them are located along the route of the Amtrak Vermonter.

Vermont is noted for its scenic towns and villages. Communities with Amtrak Vermont Route Map - Click for larger imagedesignated downtowns are where you'll find buildings, streets, and architecture of historical significance, but Vermont downtowns also provide the most unique of shopping and dining experiences.
